DANCERS strutted their stuff in a 12-hour marathon to raise funds for Great Oaks Hospice.
Nine of them managed to keep going for the full 12 hours, clocking up around 40 miles each of dancing.
Debbie Hutchinson, Great Oaks charity fund-raiser, said: “We had a fabulous day raising money for the hospice and had several classes going on, with a warm- up with Jazzy Jo’s Line Dancing Class, LVC Fitness doing Fitsteps, Jive with Gary and a taster Salsa class with Rimto Salsa Class.
“Our dancers had a brilliant day with nine of them completing the whole 12 hours of dancing and clocking up some 41 miles each.
“It was certainly a fun event and even attracted someone from Hay-on-Wye. The danceathon raised around £1,000 and we are incredibly grateful for everyone’s support.
“Great Oaks looked after nearly 400 local people and their families last year, with all of the services provided by ourselves free
“Fund-raising events are one of the ways that gets our community together and help bring in money towards the £600,000 per year needed to run the hospice.
“We have so many people telling us at events that they really enjoy them, and that we have looked after a member of their families or a friend and they like to give something back to us by supporting these events.
“They feel that they still have that connection with Great Oaks, which really is lovely – it’s so good to be able to offer a wide range of fund-raising events with something to suit all.”
Pete Stead, who played music throughout the day, said: “Once again this was a brilliant fundraising event hosted by Great Oaks. I really enjoyed playing a varied range of music throughout the day and our dancers requested some fabulous tunes.
“The whole atmosphere was fantastic and I could see just how much everyone enjoyed the day. I know I certainly did.”
