ONE of hundreds of beacons across the country marking the end of fighting 100 years ago is lit at Lydney by Steve Oakey.
Pupils of the Dean Academy read the names of the fallen in a moving tribute on Primrose Hill.
Beacons were also lit at Pan Tod, the highest point of the Dean at Ruardean, at the Prospect in Ross-on-Wye, at Chepstow Rugby Club and next to the Severn at Sudbrook near Caldicot.
In Chepstow members of the Kre8tive Kids drama group read the names of the local men who made the ultimate sacrifice.
