BUS timetables for a service between Chepstow and Newport are being changed because of the introduction of a 20mph speed limit on part of the route.

The 74 and X74 is being re-timed because of the new speed limit on parts of the four-mile stretch of the B4245 between Caldicot and Magor.

It is one of a raft of changes being introduced by Newport Bus from September 4 which will affect other services in Chepstow and Monmouth – including the reintroduction of Sunday services.

The 73 between Chepstow and Newport via Caerwent will have an hourly service for most of the day with most connecting with TrawsCambria’s T7 bus to Bristol.

On Saturdays, buses will operate every two hours.

As well as amended timings on the 74 and X74 to improve reliability, there will be additional morning and evening journeys on Saturdays/

A new Sunday service is also now provided thanks to funding from Monmouthshire County Council.

The service between Newport and Monmouth will see the introduction of the X60 express in the morning and evening.

The timetable for service 60 between Monmouth and Newport is fully revised to give better spacing between journeys

The Saturday timetable is also revised completely with the 7.55am journey from Newport starting at 7.30am and will operate the standard route rather than the A449.

An extra journey is also added in both directions.

To help passengers during the transition, Newport Bus is running a helpline until September 9.
