A QUILTER from Monmouth is on a mission to encourage people across the country to sign up to a 'Quilts of Valour' scheme to honour injured soldiers.
Jean Morris has made 10 personalised quilts of which seven have been presented to injured soldiers from 1st Battalion the Rifles.
She is a member of the Wyeknot quilting group in Monmouth and has recruited them for a day of quilting for the soldiers on February 14.
She said: "The Quilts of Valour Foundation was started in 2003 and I found out about it on a visit to the USA.
"It shows the community does care about the soldiers who have been in places like Iran and Afghanistan. I am a quilter, it's what I do, and I thought this was a nice way of paying homage to the soldiers.
"They seemed quite pleased and I think they are glad to know people are supporting them."
Jean now wants to extend the Quilts of Valour scheme across the country and get other people involved.
