A CHEQUE for £500 was presented to a charity that helps injured soldiers and their families from Beachley-based 1 Rifles.

The money was raised by pupils at Wyedean School in Sedbury through a number of charity activities.

The cheque was presented by 13-year-old Ashraf Packham – who last year became the youngest boy to climb Africa's highest peak, Mount Kilimanjaro, by the difficult Western Breach route.

It was presented to Major Roger Rowley of 1 Rifles at the school.
