GUIDES, Brownies and Rainbows present and past filled Cinderford Methodist Church to celebrate 85 years of Guiding in the town and mark Guides and Scouts' Thinking Day.

The service was led by the County Guide Chaplain, Rev Marilyn Sharland. Robin Healey was organist and the lesson was read by Sheila Llewellyn. A retiring collection, together with the units' contributions, was for the Guide Thinking Day Fund.

Following the service, tea and cake was served in the Wesley Hall where there was a display of memorabilia from as far back as 1927.

"Many photographs were taken, memories recorded and friendships renewed. It was a very successful event and it is good to see the present units flourishing and carrying on the proud tradition," said a spokesman.

The gathering was the culmination of many weeks of planning by Ruth Jordan, Mrs Karen Jenkins, Mrs Janet Bennett and Mrs Denise Davies.
