WHEN Nadine Pearson wrapped herself in a poppy-decorated tablecloth as a bit of fun, she had no idea what she had started.
Nadine, of Beachley, was counting donations with other Poppy Appeal volunteers when she decided to ‘model’ the cloth.
Less than a week later she was getting admiring comments about her new dress – which she now plans to sell to raise more money for the British Legion.
Nadine, a volunteer for the Chepstow Poppy Appeal said: “I found the tablecloth and wrapped it around myself like a dress – and people took it seriously.”
She handed the tablecloth to her aunt, Angela Jones of Caldicot, who transformed it into a dress.
Nadine, who joined the parade through Chepstow on Remembrance Sunday, added: “I’ve got very talented aunties – I got the credit but she is the one who put in all the hard work.
“People absolutely love it. I’ve been stopped in the street and a lady in Costa offered to buy our coffee.
“I intend to put it on eBay and hopefully make a lot of money for the British Legion.”
