AN inaugural family fun day and football tournament at Lydney Football Club was a great success at the weekend.
Manager of the under-16s Lydney team, Stuart Liddington said: "The event was well attended and supported by players and their families at the football club.
"Over 60 boys turned up to play a six-a-side tournament between Lydney teams which proved very popular. There was also a bouncy castle, fire brigade and police car for the kids to browse around and local singer Ellie Higgs performed.
"We are now looking to make it an annual event which we hope will grow in years to come."
The event raised approximately £400 for the youth section of Lydney AFC who are self-sufficient and rely on donations to cover the running costs to purchase goals, footballs and kit.
Stuart added: “On behalf of the club, a big thank you to all those who supported the event especially organisers: Michelle Walters, Claudia McNaulty (secretary), Christine Cunliffe and Tania Liddington.”
