GLOUCESTERSHIRE County Council is hosting an information meeting tonight (Wednesday) in Newent for anyone interested in fostering young asylum seekers.
The meeting is at Newent Community Centre from 7pm to 9pm. In attendance will be a social worker, an experienced foster carer and a young asylum seeker who has been fostered in Gloucestershire who will answer questions.
Foster carers will need to provide the young people with a culturally-sensitive home where they can be helped to adjust to life in the UK, to overcome any trauma they may have experienced and to practice their religion.
In order to become a foster carer, you need to be over 21 and have a spare room.
Cllr Paul McLain, Cabinet member for children and young people, said: "These young people have gone through a great deal and I know there are people in Gloucestershire who would like to help them.
“The information evening will provide you with information about how you can do this by becoming foster carers and giving them a stable and supportive home.”
