FOREST of Dean towns and businesses can still receive a share of a £45,000 grant to help grow the local economy.
Cllr Craig Lawton (Conservative, Oxenhall and Newent North East) said almost half of a £100,000 fund, set up in 2014, has not been allocated.
He said: “It is disappointing that only half of the funds were made use of last time, however this does mean that there is another chance for local initiatives to make use of this money before it is too late.
“I have written to Newent Town Council, Gorsley and Kilcot Parish Council, and Oxenhall Parish meeting as the three bodies that cover my ward and urged them to consider making applications before it is too late.
“I would urge anyone else interested to do the same, as it would be a real shame to see this money go to waste when it could be benefiting our local economy.”
Grants of between £1,000 and £5,000 are available for local businesses, traders, and town councils that have ideas for new businesses and events that could help local economic growth.
Applications close on January 8 2016 and forms can be found on the Forest of Dean District Council website.
