ECO-friendly energy was provided by a wind turbine from the Forest at a weekend festival.
A number of craftspeople from the area also demonstrated their skills at the Green Gathering which was held in the shadow of Piercefield House on the outskirts of Chepstow.
The annual event celebrates green and low-impact lifestyles.
The turbine from Woolaston was used to power the festoon lighting across the site which overlooks Chepstow Racecourse.
Solar panels powered the Soundscape solar stage and the speakers’ area.
The festival, which included skills workshops, music and debates, attracted thousands of people from across the country.
Forest blacksmith Gareth Thomas displayed his traditional forged ironwork and the Longhope-based Rewild project provided workshops in traditional crafts and skills.
Community organisations from across the Forest and Wye Valley were on hand to provide information on local resources.
A spokeswoman the event said: “The festival is a place to relax and have fun, and share ideas on how to live a greener lifestyle and gives the young a taste of greener living”.
