DRYBROOK builders’ merchants Hale and Co made a special delivery last week.

They are part of a team of local suppliers and tradespeople helping with the ‘Big Build’ for BBC One show DIY SOS.

Their mission is to adapt and extend Rob and Charlotte Fairlie’s family home in Monmouth as Charlotte suffered a massive stroke just after giving birth to twin boys Fox and Teddy.

Jake Hale says: “We were contacted a few months ago by BBC researchers who also explained the family’s situation and supplied a list of what they needed.

“We are often asked to support charities, but this was quite unique. We’re

a close-knit community here in the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley and it was great to see everyone pulling together to help. Many of the builders, plumbers and plasterers on-site are also our customers. This was a real community effort.”

Hales supplied ten bags of ballast for ground works outside and timber for door linings for the extension. The building work will give Charlotte a dedicated physiotherapy room and room for a live-in carer.
