I AM concerned about the new contract for junior doctors.
I am especially angry about Jeremy Hunt’s misrepresentation of the junior doctors’ industrial action.
He has said that the action put lives at risk in emergency departments, in intensive care and in maternity.
The junior doctors were covered in there absence by consultants and senior doctors, so was no danger to patients, unless of course it is the case that these senior doctors give inferior care compared with their junior colleagues.
Everyone knows this, so the question must be: why does Jeremy Hunt insist on repeating this fiction?
Jeremy Hunt needs to be pushed by his colleagues for fresh negotiations.
Jeremy Hunt needs to be open to compromise.
