I AM writing as a reaction to yet more boar damage at Edge End recreational ground, St Stephen’s churchyard, Primrose Hill playground etc, etc – the list is endless and something has to be done.
As a person who has had much damage in my own garden – which I was able to resolve with the advice from the boar solution group and Two Rivers Housing, I am well aware that it takes hard work and resources to rectify damage and erect appropriate fencing.
This is not possible for the larger area where the facilities have remained for many years and would take vast effort and much funding to resolve.
I am not anti-wild animals living in our beautiful forest but that is where they must and should remain – not living on council, Forestry Commission and private land such as in Cinderford and Berry Hill.
District councillors have been fobbed off for too long – promised by our Cabinet member and others that DEFRA (Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) and our MP are getting involved, or statements such as “It is not our problem.”
As representatives of our district we know this is not true – if we can lobby and campaign on other issues we cannot bury our heads on this one.
Enough is enough. We want action and would support the Cabinet members should they do this.
As yet we carry on and see decimation of our great open green areas near settlements and I wonder how much more will people will take?
– Cllr Di Martin (Lab), Forest of Dean District Council, Cinderford East.
