THE M48 at Chepstow is closed following an incident in which a vehicle went through a barrier on the bridge over the motorway.
At 1.43pm today (Monday)South Wales Fire and Rescue Service were called to an incident on the M48 westbound, at junction 2 to reports of one vehicle leaving the flyover and landing on the motorway.
Crews from Chepstow and Maindee in Newport attended the scene.
One person, who had to be cut free using hydraulic cutting equipment, was taken to hospital by the air ambulance with possible pelvis and spinal injuries.
An eye-witness told the Review a number of ambulances were on the scene.
The Severn Bridge heading into Wales is expected to be closed for several hours.
