SEVEN people from the Forest are bearing sore legs after taking part in the Three Peaks Challenge at the weekend.

Kevin Hall, from Worrall Hill, and his team were driven to the foot of Ben Nevis, Snowdon and Scafell Pike where they had to reach the top of each one in one day. The team walked in total 26 miles and climbed just under 10,000 feet in 26 hours.

"We took just over 24 hours due to a couple mishaps which included: being eaten by vampire midges, losing one challenger to a injury and the wind battling against us as we climbed Mount Snowdon. But the main thing is we reached the top all the same and we had a fantastic time.

"I am still aching, it's funny really that on Saturday I was striding up the side of a mountain, but struggled on Monday morning walking up my stairs."

Kevin and his team were walking to raise money for Cinderford Artspace. He added: "Two of the walkers work at the centre and I have visited it to see what work they do and think it is a great cause. We have raised so far £2,000 and hope that a few more donations come through. It has been a life changing experience for us all and we certainly aren't put off taking part in it again."
