A NEW advice centre for military personnel, veterans and their families was officially opened by the Mayor of Lydney, Cllr Bob Berryman.

The pop-in centre, based at the former British Legion club in Hill Street, Lydney, is open every Thursday between 10am and 2pm.

Chairman of the British Legion in Lydney, Mel Rudge, said: "We can help serving personnel, veterans and dependents."

Cllr Berryman said: "The British Legion does an incredible amount of work and the Lydney branch is very active.

"This advice centre is an excellent initiative and will help military personnel and their families."
