RECENTLY we have received phone calls and seen the letters regarding the removal of the much-loved old roundabout at Primrose Hill Mesne.

We are thankful for everyone’s feedback and thought we would share the reasons why the old roundabout had to be replaced for the wider community’s information.

The old roundabout, played on by generations of the same family for several decades, has been regularly repaired during the council’s weekly inspections to keep it safe and going as long as possible.

The yearly play inspection, conducted by an external organisation, recommended removal of the roundabout in 2015 within 12 months.

The amenities committee, which manages such matters, considered that it was better to replace the roundabout rather than leave the site empty.

We trust the replacement roundabout will be as much-used and loved in the future.
