A SCHOOL mufti day raised £570 towards a new hospital x-ray machine.
Dean Academy head girl Olivia Davis organised the non-uniform day last term to help Friends of Lydney Hospital, and the cheque was presented last week.
Steve Longton, a former teacher at the school and committee member for the charity, accepted the cheque from the students, thanking them for their efforts and contribution.
He said: “I have lived in the area for over 30 years, my children attended this school and they have made use of Lydney Hospital on regular occasions.
“It is great to see continued support from the community for our local services.”
Assistant head Emily Smith added: “Our students were keen to support a local fundraising effort which, for many, really is close to home.
“So many of them have used the local hospital or have had friends and family members rushed there.
“They felt passionately about supporting such a great cause and have already begun planning the next event.”
