QUEUES of bus users of the Stagecoach 23 service from Coleford to Gloucester had a three-hour wait on Friday as the 9am service failed to arrive.
County councillor Alan Preest noticed people waiting in Lydney bus station but little did they know its bus had broken down due to a suspension fault.
Cllr Preest, who represents Lydney on Gloucestershire County Council, described the wait as ‘totally and utterly unacceptable’ and questions why the company doesn’t have a contingency plan in place.
Mr Preest said: “The 7am bus arrived in Lydney as normal but there was no explanation as to why the 9am one didn’t. Passengers had to wait another hour until services resumed as normal.
“It’s totally and utterly unacceptable especially on a weekday morning when a lot of people will need to get to work, hospital appointments and do their shopping. Surely a company of this size has contingency plans.”
Stagecoach failed to comment before the Review went to press to say why a relief bus was not sent.
