SCARR Bandstand in Sling is restored and ready to welcome an audience, according to chair of the restoration group Bill Gayler.

Bill told the Review: “The biggest thrill for all of us on the restoration group is the strong possibility that at least one public performance will take place this summer of 2017.

“Local bands have expressed great interest in playing there again and Gloucestershire Youth Players are eager to play the site with a performance of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

“Coleford Town Council and the bandstand restoration group are also in discussions with a view to one day including the bandstand as a venue for fringe-events for the fantastically successful Coleford Music Festival. Watch this space.”

But more support from local volunteers is still necessary to bring this wonderful project to fruition.

Bill added: “Please join us. Small tasks need doing and great ambition is essential. It’s good fun and a way to meet interesting people.”
