THE Review have a competition to win a pair of tickets to see ‘Bring Me Sunshine’ musical concert at Lydney Town Hall.

Forest Musical Society are joining up with the Forest of Dean Male Voice Choir and The Springfield Singers to put on the concert in aid of Cancer Research UK. There will be a great night of music on Friday, April 12th, at 7pm at Lydney Town Hall as these well loved Forest of Dean musical groups produce their programme to suit all tastes, with each group performing a number of songs in each act before coming together at the end of the show to perform the title song "Bring Me Sunshine.”

Show Producer Elliott Burge said: "It’s been a rewarding challenge to get all the groups together and all the performers are looking forward to presenting a spectacular show. My special thanks go to both Jeanette Witheridge from Springfield Singers and Tracey Gwynne from the Forest of Dean Male Voice Choir for all the hours of effort they have put in to get the show ready, each also co-coordinating their own groups involvement.”

The concept for Bring Me Sunshine started in October 2017 as, during the 25th Anniversary Show for the Forest Musical Society, they heard the tragic news that a previous member "Ann Fisher" was losing her battle with cancer. Discussions started with Springfield Singers with whom Ann was also an active member to try and do something together to raise money for Cancer Research UK. Due to the challenge of multiple groups diaries it was a few months before the concept could be developed further during which time we learned another member of Forest Musical Society Francis James was also battling the condition, and at that point they asked the Forest of Dean Male Voice Choir to join in the event.

Unfortunately Francis also lost his battle, but this concert allows all three groups to come together to do something good and raise much needed funds, with all profits going to Cancer Research UK.

Tickets are available online from www.bringmesunshine.org.uk or on the door (subject to availability) and are priced at £5.00 each. They will also be holding a raffle on the night to help raise more money ,and if any local businesses would like to donate items or vouchers that would help they would be very grateful. Please contact Elliott on [email protected] with any offers of raffle prizes.

Special thanks also go out to Lydney Town Hall who are donating the use of the hall for free, to ensure the most amount of profit can be passed along to the charity.
