THE curtain goes up on the first production by the Forest’s newest amateur theatre group.

The Dean Theatre Company was formed last summer and will put on The Pantomime Adventures of Robin Hood at Lydney Town Hall.

There will be four shows starting on Friday evening (January 24) through to Sunday afternoon (January 26).

Auditions took place last June and the cast and crew has been working hard since then.

The Dean Theatre Company’s Caroline Foligno said the costume department has been busily scouring local shops for costumes and fabric.

She said: “If you have donated to local charity shops, there is a good chance you might recognise some of the fabric patterns on stage.

“Costumes take a vast amount of fabric and the local charity shops have an enormous amount of duvet covers, sheets and curtains that have been purchased by the company and re-purposed in to costumes for the Robin Hood pantomime.

“This is not only an eco-friendly option but also helps raise valuable funds for our local charity shops in the Forest.”

The show features Siobhan Daly as Robin Hood, Paula Morgan as Lady Marion, Joe Luker as the Sheriff of Nottingham, Simon Moore as Nanny Nora Tittle Tattle, Chris Seabury as Little John and Steve Wilson as Friar Tuck.

Caroline added: “The preparations are going really well and the dress rehearsal (at the town hall on Sunday) was great.

“It is going to be a fabulous show,

The show starts at 7.30pm on Friday, with two shows on Saturday at 2.30pm and 7.30pm and one on Sunday at 2,30pm-.
