FOUR local schools competed in the second annual triathlon at St John’s on-the-Hill School in Tutshill on Saturday (March 4).
Pupils from St John’s-on-the-Hill were joined by Primrose Hill Church of England Primary Academy from Lydney, Berry Hill Primary School and Rogiet Primary School to compete in teams in swimming, indoor athletics and running races.
The standard of the competition was very impressive.
The St John’s Lions came first, followed by Rogiet Sharks in second place and both Berry Hill teams – Rhinos and Leopards – in joint third place.
St John’s head of PE, Lisa Duncan, said: “This year’s triathlon tested the children’s fitness, agility and determination.
“The school teams put their all into each event and we were particularly impressed with the running – the children took turns to run for a total of 15 minutes – each completing between two and four 400m laps – they kept up a strong pace throughout and the standard of running was very high.”
