A LOCAL car enthusiast is exhibiting his pride and joy in aid of Midlands Air Ambulance who came to his rescue six years ago.

Rob Sargent, of Lydbrook, was airlifted to Frenchay Hospital after he fell off a ladder and broke his back on December, 8 2008.

As a way of thanking them for their help he is taking part in Rally Nite 2014 at The Brewery in Cheltenham on Monday, December 1 with his 1969 Savage V6 Cortina MK2.

The event celebrates and pays tribute to the Ford Escorts with the stars that made them so iconic – these include former rally co-driver and Top Gear presenter Tony Mason, to name a few!

He said: "I will be exhibiting my car which has won many awards including Britain's Top Classic Car Award in 2009. I've been told that I will apparently be parked next to the never-seen-before Mustang – which sounds exciting."

Regional fundraising manager of Gloucestershire and West Herefordshire, Susie Godwin added: "We airlifted Rob and very much appreciate his continuing support of the work of Midlands Air Ambulance Charity.

"We look forward to seeing his car on display at Rally Nite 2014. Rally Nite is in support of Midlands Air Ambulance Charity and promises to be a fabulous evening, celebrating and paying tribute to the classic Ford Escort."
