A SCARECROW trail organised by a school’s Parent Teacher Association raised a none-too-shabby £2135.
The Disney-themed trail, organised by the Archbishop Rowan Williams Primary PTFA in Portskewett, attracted visitors from as far away as Lydney and Newent.
They were among 500 families who completed the trail around Portskewett and Sudbrook.
Bethan Bass, of Caldicot, was the overall winner, correctly guessing the identities of all 36 scarecrows, winning a cup sponsored by Spot Free Cleaning.
The cup for best scarecrow, which was sponsored by Touch of Class in Caldicot was presented to Keegan and Kiara who were part of the team that recreated Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
Trail goers voted the display, which was made up of multiple scarecrows across several gardens.
Polly received the runners-up cup, sponsored by Jones’ Shakes and Sundaes and Revolution Performance Mindset for the creation of Hei Hei from Moana, and to Tyler for the creation of Winnie the Pooh and friends.
Committee chair Claire Phelps said: "As a committee, we would like to thank all of the participants in this year’s trail, as well as the wonderful staff at The Castle Inn, the Portskewett Inn, and Lifestyle Plus shop in Portskewett.
"This event is a really huge community project with so many people offering their time, expertise, and skills to ensure that each year builds on the success of the previous years even further.
"Residents Jacci Booysen and Stacey Griffiths began the scarecrow extravaganza in 2017 and their brainwave has become an annual date in the calendar that is truly loved and set to stay.
"In addition to fundraising for the school, we were incredibly grateful to four local businesses who kindly sponsored trophies for the winners of this year’s trail."
