A WHOLE school took a trip back in time when they immersed themselves in Ancient Greece, courtesy of a trip to the British Museum in London.

Clearwell Primary School pupils and parents made the trip to the capital to launch their term topic, and were lucky enough to see some of the city’s world famous landmarks, such as Trafalgar Square and Big Ben.

Headteacher Cilla James said: “As part of our curriculum, we have an immersion trip right at the start of a topic, which this term is Ancient Greece.

“While we couldn’t stretch to taking everyone to Greece we went for the next best thing – the British Museum.

“The idea behind the trip was to inspire the children to think like historians and come back to school and decide what they would like to find out about the Greeks.

“It certainly worked as the children were buzzing with ideas and we have a vast array of ideas to use to plan their learning.

“For lots of the children and parents it was their first visit to London and we were fortunate our driver was a bit of an expert and treated us all to a mini tour of some of the landmarks, including Trafalgar Square, London Eye, Downing Street and Big Ben. I don’t know of many schools who take a whole school trip to London.”
