MORE than 13 per cent of vehicles monitored during checks on 30mph town and village roads were speeding, say police.

Out of 180 cars that were checked in Cinderford and Lydney, 25 were found to be exceeding the speed limit and their drivers warned.

PCSOs Tom Oliver and Sue Pritchard were out in Valley Road and Buckshaft Road in Cinderford and Primrose Hill in Lydney assessing the speed of traffic.

Both Valley Road and Buckshaft Road are areas of concern for speeding and have Community Speed Watch schemes.

Out of 106 vehicles checked on Cinderford’s Valley Road, 14 were travelling above the 30mph limit.

All but one of those speeding vehicles were stopped and given education on speeding in the area. The regsitred owner of the vehicle that officers were unable to stop will receive a letter in the post.

In Buckshaft Road, five out of 38 vehicles checked were travelling above the 30mph speed limit and stopped.

Another six out of 36 vehicles travelling on Primrose Hill were also going too fast and were pulled over.
