ST BRIAVELS Castle went back in time at the weekend (April 9 and 10) as a team of historical interpreters recreated life during World War Two.
British and German re-enactment groups gave talks explaining what warfare was like for troops on both sides of the conflict and fired blanks to give visitors an idea of how loud the gunfire would have been.
There was a junior assault course and Blitz-time Sally sang songs from the period. A number of children dressed up as evacuees.
Youth Hostel Association (YHA) manager, Linda Harrison says: “This is the third year we’ve run the event and it was a great success. We had around 270 people over the two days, including lots of children. Everyone involved was a volunteer and money raised goes to YHA Charity Breaks for Kids.”
