FOREST bands are to recreate a charity gig from 25 years ago.

Main organiser Jenny Green, of Huntley, says she will be hosting 50 Golden Years of Forest a Rock at the same venue as 1991, The Oaklands in Cinderford.

She said: “The last time we did the event we made the front page – 25 years on we are doing it again but calling it 50 Golden Years of Forest a Rock. Only five bands are taking part this time as unfortunately quite a few band members have died.”

In their heyday local groups Sundown, Network, Tanglefoot, Kilgaron and The Castelles gave considerable enjoyment to thousands of people at various pubs, clubs and halls across the Forest and Wye Valley.

Now they are reuniting on Saturday, October 8 for a night of rock nostalgia.

Jenny added: “The compère for the evening will be Pete Blake, who will also be the DJ for Pete’s Beat a Disco, another blast from the past. There will be a raffle and I am also auctioning a bottle of House of Lords whisky signed and donated by Lord David Blunkett.”

Proceeds will be donated to Hope for Tomorrow, the mobile chemotherapy bus, which visits the Dilke Hospital saving patients who live in the Forest and are receiving chemotherapy the need to travel to Cheltenham.

The event starts at 7.30pm. For tickets call Jenny on 07786586721 or email jennifer298green @btinternet.com
