A SUCCESSFUL first event was the conclusion of organisers following the recent Ross Busking Festival.

“We had over 20 acts on the open mic stage and we were impressed with that turnout given the weather forecast for the day, “ said Nick Penny, organiser of this event and of busking festivals in Coleford and Monmouth.

“This event was a really positive step forward. The weather was hit and miss in the end, but the main stage was set up under the Market House away from the rain and musicians and crowds all seemed to enjoy themselves.

“As with other events performers were also busking around the town.”

The event was funded by Ross Town Council, who gave £600 for marketing and Create Ross, who raised around £1,200 for this and other events from local businesses.

“Create Ross aims to bring the town alive with events and some of the money they raised went towards equipment hire,” Nick added. “Alastair Macdonald went around all the businesses in the town to raise this sponsorship and we’d really like to thank him and Create Ross as well as the town council for their support.

“Initial reactions were that we should make this an annual event, but we haven’t had the formal evaluations yet.”
