LYDBROOK resident Rob Sargent’s rare Cortina is on its way to Surrey to take part in the International Ford Show at Sandown Park from April 30 to May 1.
The ‘Savage’ V6 Cortina MKII car is one of the best examples of the Essex V6 engine in existence and will be among around 70 cars of the world top cars on display.
The car sold for £1,816 when it was new in August 1969 and Rob bought it in 1990. He spent the next 15 years restoring it, before taking second place in 2009 at the International Classic Car Show, beating a £3.5 million Ferrari Europa.
Rob says: “I’m extremely pleased and proud to have been selected to be part of ‘The Only Way is Essex’ next month to celebrate 50 years of the engine which has powered some of Ford’s most iconic models.”
Rob needs help getting his Cortina to the show.
