YEARS since trains last visited Monmouth, the steamers are coming back to town!
Monmouth's first Model Railway exhibition steams off on Sunday February 5 at Monmouth Leisure Centre.
The event runs from 10am to 4pm and it is being organised by Monmouth Rotary Club.
Peter Pierce, the driving force behind this new Rotary project, said: "This is the first of what will become an annual event that should attract new visitors to Monmouth."
There will be more than 16 layouts, mainly entered from the surrounding area. The owners will be on hand to demonstrate their skills and talk to other enthusiasts. There should also be an opportunity for those new to model trains to try their hand at running the sets.
On static display will be 10 large working engines from garden layouts.
Trade stands will display new trains and Eric Bottomley will show his railway paintings. Entry on the door.
