THERE will be an act of remembrance at 11am on Armistice Sunday at the war memorial in Chepstow again this year after a compromise was reached between the town council and British Legion.
A "rival" tribute was held at the memorial last year at the same time as the traditional "closed" commemoration at St Mary's Church leading to an acrimonious meeting between councillors and Chepstow Legion officials.
Although Armistice Day tributes are officially the responsibility of Chepstow town council the practical organisation has been done for many years by the local branch of the British Legion.
