A MEDIEVAL knight and lady will be offering young visitors training in the basics of foot combat and the courtly etiquette that would separate a noble lady from the peasants (who will obviously be revolting).
From May 31 to June 3, over the Whitsun week, trainee knights can try their hand at combat activities at Goodrich Castle including junior jousting and swordplay. For those of a more gentile disposition there will be lessons in medieval deportment and 15 century customs.
"Over the four days, we'll have a range of child-sized armour for our younger visitors to try on, and get a feel for just how heavy and cumbersome this could be, but if children have their own dressing up outfits – either knights or princesses – they are welcome to come dressed ready for combat," says English Heritage's regional events manager, Karen Pike.
Time Travellers Go... Knights & Princesses runs from 11.00am to 5.00pm each day.
