THE war memorial at Bishopswood between Lydbrook and Walford has been given ‘listed’ status.
The memorial was unveiled in 1921 as a monument to the 18 men from the village who lost their lives in the First World War.
Following the Second World War the names were added of eight more men who made the ultimate sacrifice in the battle against Nazism.
Historic England describes the now Grade II listed memorial as “a fine ensemble consisting of a well-executed Latin cross memorial rising prominently from a terraced platform.”
