It is not often I agree with Roger Horsfield but on the issue of these so called wild boar he's dead right, its about time the Forestry Commission eradicated this invasion , if its left to go on much longer the only thing the Forest will be good for is growing spuds. 

When these semi domesticated animals were let loose on Forestry land many years back the problem should have been dealt with then, but the Forestry Commission and their handlers did nothing, and so a tiny problem became a big problem that's now turned into crisis, and what is the Forestry Commissions answer? Erect an enormous, expensive fence around Beechenhurst picnic site (I would have thought the new ugly, invasive, in-your-face signs they've erected at the entrance to the site would have scared the boar away). 

It's about time the Forestry Commission got back to its roots: this Forest is about public access, minerals and timber production. At the moment all they seemed to be interested in is selling of huge areas to outside bodies or turning our Forest into a theme park.

Not to long ago there was big campaign to keep the local Forestry Commission in existence, it's about time they started justifying this effort.
