WHILST waking around Mallards Pike with my wife and dog a man approached us and warned us there was a man with a golf club swinging it at any dog who got near his wife.

We put our aged labrador on his lead just in time as the gentleman with the club approached us and was clearly irate at all dog owners.

"All you dog owners are alike," he shouted waving the club in a threatening way.

A group of us had gathered all with our dogs to reassure the man who had warned us of the club wielding irate man.

From a distance we all tried to reason with the man and explain that coming armed with a club was probably an offence. But he would have none of it.

This matter was reported to the police but obviously they saw no need to take the matter further, so be warned.
