BREAM FC presented a cheque for more than £1,000 to the Great Oaks Hospice – the proceeds of BreamFest – before kicking off their North Gloucestershire Premier Division clash with Viney St Swithins.
The celebrations continued on the pitch, as the home side went onto win 1-0 against second-placed Viney.
BreamFest was held in August and raised a bumper £1,055 for the Coleford-based hospice.
Previous BreamFests have seen £1,100 raised for a special school and another £1,400 for a playgroup.
The victory saw a return to winning ways for Bream who have set themselves the target of winning the league and a cup this season.
Bream were dominant for most of the match and had several chances to score in the first half after good work down both flanks by Billy Biddle and Daniel Millin, but could not break the deadlock.
The second half continued in the same vein, with Bream pushing forward.
And it took a fine strike from Sam Hill to finally break the deadlock and give the hosts a deserved 1-0 lead.
There was a little scare near the end of the game for Bream, though, when the ball took a bobble and very nearly ended up over the goal line.
Bream had to thank the quick thinking and fast feet of keeper Dale Alexander for keeping the ball out and the three points safe.
Man of the match was named as Harry Purrington, who displayed much composure on a fine debut.
Bream currently play at Worrall Hill, but the club has recently imported 20,000 tons of soil and topsoil to construct a brand new pitch.
With seeding virtually the only job left to do, the club is hopeful that the first game on it will be at the start of the 2020-21 season at the end of next summer.
At the end of last season, the club achieved FA Standard Charter status, meaning that each of the sides goes out with fully-trained first aiders on hand.
