MORE than 250 runners enjoyed the challenge of the Kymin Dash on Sunday (April 17).
The 7.1-mile race, organised by the Spirit of Monmouth running club, starts with an ascent of the daunting Kymin before looping around the Wye, making it one of the most scenic courses in the country.
Niki Morgan of Chepstow Harriers was the first woman home in 50 mins 11 secs, a minute and 27 seconds behind winner Amy Ballon Tyre.
A large number of athletes from the Forest of Dean Athletics Club took part and the first to cross the line was Marcus Bennett in 44 mins 45 secs.
That was 4 mins 39 secs behind winner Huw Evans of Les Croupiers in Cardiff who retained the title with a time of 40 mins 6 secs.
Bennett finished in 13th position, 32 seconds ahead of club mate Jack Fleet who finished in 45mins 17secs.
The first female of the Forest club to finish was Cherry Fowler with a time of 53 mins 23 secs.
The ascent of the Kymin is timed and the fastest man and woman are crowned King and Queen of the Hill respectively.
