A LOCAL man wants to drag kids off the couch this summer and offer them football lessons.

John Bevan, of Coleford, is an FA certified football coach and has put his hand in his pocket and bought new football goals, footballs, and equipment.

Mr Bevan has also enlisted the help of Gloucestershire College, at Five Acres, and paid a local contractor to mark out a football pitch.

He said: "I know from having a 12-year-old son how easy it is for kids to sit on the sofa and play on their Xbox all day. If it's not their Xbox it's their computer or phone, so I have come up with an idea that will get them off the sofa, meet new people and have some fun."

The sessions will run at Five Acres Leisure Centre every Saturday from 10am-12pm and is open to boys and girls aged 11 and 12. For more information contact John on 01594 837733.
