SPORTING students at Monmouth Comprehensive have been starring in recent cup finals.
Last week, the Year 8 rugby team lifted the Newport Schools Plate Final on their own pitch, scoring some great great tries against St Julians.
The winning squad were – Will McDonald, George Sims, Harri Thomas, Jack Hemmings, Jack Thorp, Fenley Cook, Harry McGowen, Ben Hopkins-Firth, Joseph Jarrold, Kian Synnott, Thomas Bendon, Ajay Bayliss, Thomas Gibbs, Daniel Vale-Jenkins; Henry Hough, Sam Graefe, Krish Chandler, Bleddyn Heals, Tom Graefe, Ashton Kift and Ryan Rastall.

The school's U19 football team also fought hard in the senior Gwent Schools Cup final at Cwmbran Stadium, but had to give second best finishing runners-up to Coleg Gwent Torfaen 9-3.
Jayden Makondora fired a brace for Monmouth, while Kian Davies also hit the target.
