Forest of Dean District Council car parks in Coleford, Lydney, Newent, Cinderford and Mitcheldean are set to see updated signs and line painting as part of a scheme to ensure consistency and improve the parking experience for all visitors.

Deputy Leader of Forest of Dean District Council and Cabinet Member for Finance, Cllr Andy Moore said: “Following the agreed budget proposals in April this year, we have been working with officers to identify changes that need to be made to standardise our approach to parking across the district.

“This includes installing new signage and updating the current line painting to reflect the new parking tariffs, as all visitors to the council owned car parks in the district can now park for free for the first hour.

“By expanding the free parking available in our car parks, we believe that it can reduce the number of people parking on residential streets and attract new visitors to help our towns and villages thrive.

“These improvements will help to avoid confusion for visitors and local residents and keep all car parks across the district consistent.”

Car parks in the five Forest towns of Coleford, Lydney, Newent, Cinderford, and Mitcheldean are due to have work done to match the current pricing structure. This means that all visitors to the car parks will benefit from the first hour of parking being free, with information at each site to promote this.

Work will be done over the coming weeks and officers from the council will be working hard to limit any disruption.
